SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Monday reported more than 80 counties in the state have opened COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to all residents 16 and older.
Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties are all counties that have opened eligibility beginning Monday.
All residents in Illinois age 16 and older will be able to receive the vaccine starting Monday, April 12 in counties that have not yet opened eligibility.
IDPH Monday also reported 2,102 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 11 additional deaths.
As of Sunday night, 1,581 people in Illinois were hospitalized with the virus. Of those, 358 were in the ICU and 159 were on ventilators.
The state has now surpassed 6.3 million vaccine doses administered as of Sunday night.
