SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker Wednesday received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Springfield.
Pritkzer Wednesday visited the Illinois State Fairgrounds, which is being used as a mass vaccination site.
Before receiving the vaccine, he praised how quickly it was able to come to the masses.
“I’m not a doctor, but I trust doctors,” said Pritzker. “Thanks to the great work of our doctors, researchers and public health scientists, these vaccines offer us all the fastest way back to normal life.”
Pritzker became eligible in Illinois for the vaccine Monday, when eligibility expanded to government workers, higher education staff and media.
“I want Illinoisans to know — especially those who may not yet feel confident enough to get vaccinated — that I’m not asking you to do anything that I wouldn’t do myself,” said Pritzker.
All Illinoisans age 16 and up become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine on April 12.
