INDIANAPOLIS — University of Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn is the second basketball player to say he faced racist comments on social media after his team’s loss to Loyola Chicago on Sunday at the NCAA tournament.
Cockburn, who is a native of Jamaica, posted a screenshot of the social media post on Instagram, saying: “I blame his parents.”
A spokesperson for the University of Illinois said that the school is looking into the situation and has spoken with Cockburn.
Cockburn’s post came a day after Ohio State’s E.J. Liddell received a threatening message on social media following the Buckeye’s loss to Oral Roberts University at the NCAA tournament.
