PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighters/Paramedics responded to reports of a house fire Saturday afternoon at 2209 W. Howett.
Upon arriving at the scene, crews encountered thick, brown smoke emerging from the front and basement of the home.
The home’s occupant, an elderly woman, was escorted out of the home by a neighbor prior to crews arriving.
The occupant and neighbor were transported to OSF, and their conditions were unknown.
The fire was contained in roughly 20 minutes, but the home did sustain significant damage in the basement and some smoke damage on the first floor.
No crew members were injured while extinguishing the fire.
