PEORIA, Ill. — Case reviews revealed COVID-19 as the cause of death this past December of two Woodford County residents.
The residents were a woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s, both of whom lived in long-term care.
A total of 84 residents of Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties tested positive between Wednesday and Thursday for coronavirus. 53 of those cases are Peoria residents, with 20 in Tazewell and 11 in Woodford.
Tri-county hospitalizations jumped up by seven, from 25 on Wednesday to Thursday’s 32. Eight of the 32 were in intensive care.
Regionally speaking, two of the three key metrics trended in the wrong direction.
Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate increased from 2.8% to 2.9% while, for the second day in a row, there was an increase in the number of patients in hospitals with COVID. 82 were hospitalized Wednesday; Thursday, that number was 83.
ICU bed availability remained at 28%.
