SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A day after the state of Illinois recorded its lowest 24-hour COVID-19 case count since July, with just over 700, close to 2,000 people tested positive.
Illinois Department of Public Health said 1,997 tests between Monday and Tuesday came back positive. 19 people died from complications related to the virus.
The state’s rolling average number of vaccinations given remained in six digits, however. 78,287 doses were given during the reporting period.
1,152 people as of Monday night were in hospitals with the virus. 250 of those patients were in intensive care, and 124 were using ventilators.
