PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters were called around 7 a.m. Monday to the 2300 block of NE Monroe for a house fire.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada said first crews on the scene reported smoke and flames coming from the side of the house.
The occupants of the home got out before firefighters arrived.
The fire was contained to the living room and was under control within about 15 minutes, Rada said.
Crews had to remove the interior and exterior walls to find additional fire inside the walls.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
