PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday reported one new area death due to COVID-19 over the weekend, a Peoria County male in his 60s.
Overall, 172 new cases have been reported in the tri-county of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford since Friday.
Peoria County leads the way with 91 new cases, Tazewell County reported 68, and Woodford County added just 13.
Overall, 27 patients are in area hospitals with the virus, a slight increase from 24 on Friday of last week.
One fewer person is in the ICU Monday compared to Friday, however. On Friday, seven patients were in the ICU, and that number dropped to six on Monday.
After hitting a low positivity rate of 2.6% last week, Region 2 as a whole had a slight increase over the weekend to a 2.8% positivity rate.
ICU bed capacity in the region fell slightly and is back below 30% at 29%.
