WASHINGTON, D.C. — Some Americans will receive the latest round of COVID-19 stimulus checks as soon as this weekend, the White House said Thursday.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki made the announcement minutes after President Joe Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
“This is, of course, just the first wave,” said Psaki. “Payments to eligible Americans will continue throughout the course of the next several weeks.”
The majority of Americans will receive payments of up to $1,400.
The bill signed by Biden also extended a $300 per week unemployment insurance boost until Sept. 6 and expanded the child tax credit for a year.
