PEORIA, Ill. β Peoria Firefighters and Paramedics Saturday afternoon were called to 1515 S. Westmoreland Ave. due to a house fire.
When crews arrived, they noticed gray smoke emerging from the roof a single-story home. To remove smoke and heat from the attic, crew members used a vent saw to cut a hole near the peak of the roof.
The home suffered significant smoke and structure damage, yet crews were able to preserve most of the interior items by placing tarps over furniture and other objects.
βIt was kind of a stubborn fire to gain access to in the beginning due to it being trapped in the attic of the home,β said Battalion Chief Rick Morgan.
No injuries were reported, and three dogs were rescued from the home. Estimated damage is $12,000.
The fire was put out in about fifteen minutes, and the incident remains under investigation.
