PEORIA, Ill. — A mixture of encouraging news and sad news highlighted Thursday’s Peoria City/County Health Department COVID-19 report.
First, the sad news: three Woodford County residents succumbed to the virus. Those residents were a man in his 50s whose living situation was not given, a woman in her 80s who did not live in long-term care, and a woman in her 90s who lived at Apostolic Christian in Eureka.
The encouraging news dealt with the overall new case count, which was a mere 75. 38 of the new cases were Tazewell County residents, 35 were Peoria, and the other two live in Woodford.
Hospitalizations increased slightly. 37 people as of Thursday afternoon were in hospital beds, with 11 of them in intensive care.
The outlook on Region Two’s metrics continued to be positive. The region’s rolling seven-day positivity has held steady for the past six days at 4.5%, ICU bed availability was up to 31%, and the number of COVID patients in region hospitals decreased by 10.
