PEORIA, Ill. — General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport is adding a specialty flight to South Dakota this summer.
Director of Airports Gene Olson announced Tuesday that PIA will offer flights to Rapid City, South Dakota this August to coincide with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally August being held August 4-14 this year.
“It’s kind of a special project. And, we’re hoping that if Central Illinois supports this project, hopefully Allegiant will try more of these things,” Olson said.
Tickets for the specialty flight are only available at allegiantair.com, according to Olson.
With the addition of Rapid City and new flights to Sarasota, Florida and Denver, Colorado, PIA will now fly to 10 locations with Allegiant.
“Rapid City is not just known for their annual bike rally, but also for Black Hills National Forrest, Badlands National Park, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Custer State Park, Devil’s Tower National Monument and Crazy Horse Memorial, to name a few,” said Gene Olson, Director of Airports.
