PEKIN, Ill. — Five people were displaced early Thursday morning by an apartment fire in Pekin.
Pekin firefighters and emergency crews were called to the 200 block of Cooper Street just before 5 a.m.
The Assistant Fire Chief told news partner 25 News it was unclear how the fire started in an apartment in the back of the complex.
Residents were alerted and everyone got out safely.
Flames were seen coming from the roof, and going into the attic.
A majority of the damage was in the apartment where the fire started.
