PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Thursday outlined additional COVID-19 vaccine registration protocols during its weekly coronavirus news conference.
Public Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson referred citizens to the Peoria City/County Health Department’s COVID webpage for the latest vaccination information.
“On our vaccine page for Peoria County, we’ve now implemented a 1st Dose Saver request form,” said Hendrickson. “This is a way for certain individuals to submit online pertinent information to put on our waitlist.”
This waitlist will be used to call individuals if there are extra doses of vaccine or there are appointment no-shows, said Hendrickson.
“Knowing how much questions there were, we are actually now requesting people who want to be on our waitlist use the 1st Dose Saver request form rather than emailing the vaccine request email,” stated Hendrickson.
She also added the waitlist currently has about one thousand individuals.
Tazewell County will begin online COVID-19 vaccination schedule registration Friday at 10 a.m., according to Hendrickson. The website is www.tazewellhealth.org.
To combat logistical challenges elderly people may face with online registration, Hendrickson said the primary point of contact will be phone calls. As a result, she urged individuals to answer their phones, even if they do not recognize the number because if you do not answer, the next person on the list will be contacted.
As more vaccine sites, like local pharmacies, have emerged, Hendrickson said the focus is getting vaccinations out as fast as possible.
She said all potential distribution methods are being considered, including mass vaccination sites.
“Nothing’s off the table,” said Hendrickson.
