SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,428 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 1,126,301.
Sunday’s report from the IDPH included 40 additional COVID-19 related deaths. 19,243 Illinoisans have died from the virus.
As of Saturday night, 2,467 people were hospitalized for COVID in Illinois. Of those patients, 538 were in intensive care and 289 were on ventilators.
IDPH said Illinois has administered 981,988 vaccines to date, with 156,872 vaccinations at long-term care facilities.
In the 24 hours between Saturday and Sunday, the state conducted 86,871 COVID tests.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate is at 3.9%.
