SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — 103 people died from COVID-19 and 4,191 tests between Wednesday and Thursday came back positive, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Labs throughout the state collected 100,119 specimens during that time to be tested for the virus. The state’s seven-day positivity rate was 4.3%.
2,802 people as of Wednesday night were hospitalized because of the virus. Of them, 567 were in intensive care, and 292 needed ventilators to breathe.
