PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria area really didn’t get much in the way of snow Monday night.
News partner 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, that’s because the temperatures weren’t low enough.
So, instead of more snow, Peoria got a glaze of ice under the little bit of snow we did get.
“Anytime you get freezing rain and sleet, you’re going to cut your snow in half. And, that’s what happened here,” Collins said.
Snow is still likely on Tuesday, possibly mixed with rain and freezing rain.
“I’d say a sleet and freezing rain, a glaze of about a tenth of inch or a quarter inch in some areas,” Collins said.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Peoria metro area until noon Tuesday.
