PEORIA, Ill. — A combined nine residents of Peoria and Tazewell Counties died between Tuesday and Wednesday from COVID-19 complications.
Tazewell reported the deaths of a man in his 60s, one in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and one in her 90s. The woman in her 90s lived at Washington Senior Living.
In Peoria, a man and woman in their 50s both died. A woman in her 60s who lived at Sharon Elms passed away, as did a man in his 60s at Sharon Willows, and a woman in her 70s who was a resident of Liberty Village.
Those two counties and Woodford combined for 148 new positive cases. 78 Peoria residents tested positive, while 52 Tazewell and 18 Woodford residents all found out they have the virus.
Area hospitalizations went down yet again, with 90 residents in hospitals because of the virus. 27 of those patients were in intensive care.
Region Two continued to move in the right direction towards graduating back to phase four of Restore Illinois, as ICU bed capacity grew again, the number of COVID patients in hospitals decreased again, and the rolling seven-day positivity rate also went down again, though it remained above the required 6.5%.
