PEORIA, Ill. — 14 area residents have died from COVID-19 complications since Friday’s last update from the Peoria City/County Health Department.
Peoria County accounted for 13 of those deaths. A woman in her 20s passed away with comorbidities, as did a man in his 50s and two females in their 60s.
Two women in their 90s who lived at Proctor Place passed away, while a man in his 70s and another in his 80s who both lived at Sharon Willows succumbed to the virus, and a woman in her 80s and another in her 90s who resided at Lutheran Hillside also died.
The virus also claimed the life of a man in his 80s and one in his 90s who were not believed to have lived in long-term care.
Tazewell County reported one death: a man in his 70s. His living situation was not made public.
Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford combined for 507 new cases. Peoria residents accounted for 267 of those cases, while Tazewell tabulated 174, and Woodford had 66.
96 area virus patients as of Tuesday afternoon were in hospitals. 29 of them were in intensive care.
Intensive care bed availability for the larger Region Two, of which the tri-county is a part, increased to 30%. COVID-19 patients in hospitals saw another decrease, and test positivity on a rolling seven-day average went down to 7%, though that number must be less than or equal to 6.5% for three consecutive days in order for Region Two to move to phase four of Restore Illinois.
