PEORIA, Ill. — Region Two, which encompasses Peoria County and surrounding counties, has been moved up to tier one COVID-19 mitigation level.
The sudden move came just two days after it was moved Friday to tier two.
Under tier one, indoor dining is allowed.
“We are excited that Peoria County, as well as all of Region 2, have met the measures to move from Tier 2 to Tier 1,” said Monica Hendrickson, Peoria City/County Health Department Administrator, in a statement.
“The past two months have been challenging for our community members and partners, but by working together we have been able to decrease the positivity rate and stress on our hospital systems.
“The work is not over. We still need to be diligent in the weeks to come as COVID-19 vaccines become more and more available.”
