SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The F-B-I has warned that protests may be planned leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden in all 50 state capitols.
Gov. J-B Pritzker has said the state is taking precautions. He’s activated 250 members of the Illinois National Guard in light of the threats.
“They will work along side our Illinois State Police, Secretary of State Police, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and our local and federal counterparts in law enforcement,” Pritzker said.
The governor said the National Guard will safeguard the right to hold a peaceful protest while protecting the citizens of Illinois. Additionally, the Secretary of State’s Office has boarded up some windows of the State Capitol as a precaution.
