PEORIA, Ill. — Illinois Region Two appears set to return Friday to tier two COVID-19 mitigation levels.
Illinois Department of Public Health reported the region as of Thursday was meeting all proper metrics. The metrics in question are rolling seven-day positivity rate, rolling seven-day average of COVID-19 patients in hospitals, and med/surg and ICU bed availability.
Under tier two mitigation guidelines, indoor dining is still prohibited. Indoor recreational facilities like casinos and bowling alleys may reopen with limited capacity, and salons and gyms may operate at greater capacity than they may under tier three guidelines.
Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties between Wednesday and Thursday added 200 new cases of the virus to their totals, to go along with one new death.
The person who died was a Tazewell man in his 70s.
105 of the new positive cases came from Peoria, while 77 were Tazewell residents, while the other 18 reside in Woodford.
Area COVID hospitalizations dipped below 100, to 99. 25 of those cases were in intensive care.
