PEORIA, Ill. — After an increase of COVID-19 hospitalized patients in area hospitals of 10 over the weekend, the Peoria City/County Health Department reported Tuesday 11 more hospital beds are in use compared to Monday.
However, six fewer ICU beds are in use, while 17 more non-ICU beds are in use.
The health department Tuesday also reported two new area deaths due to COVID-19.
Both deaths were Woodford County residents: a female in her 90s and a female in her 90s who resided at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
There has been a total of 465 tri-county COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.
Overall, there were 205 new cases reported Tuesday throughout the tri-county.
Tazewell County reported 103, Peoria County reported 84 and Woodford County reported 18 new cases.
Region 2, the region that encompasses the tri-county area, continues to meet all requirements set by the Illinois Department of Public Health to move to Tier 2 mitigations.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Monday that some regions will have their restrictions lessened Friday if they are meeting necessary requirements.
