PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Friday reported 13 new area deaths due to COVID-19 throughout Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties.
Of those, more than half were residents of long-term care facilities.
Peoria County reported five deaths:
- Male in his 90s, resident of Cornerstone
- Female in her 60s, resident of Cornerstone
- Female in her 90s, resident of Generations of Peoria
- Male in his 70s
- Male in his 90s, resident of Lutheran Hillside
Tazewell County reported seven deaths:
- Male in his 70s
- Female in her 70s
- Male in his 80s
- Male in his 70s, resident of Fondulac Rehabilitation Care Center in East Peoria
- Female in her 80s, resident of Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton
- Male, 90s, a resident of Pekin Manor
- Female, 90s, a resident of Aperion Morton Villa
Woodford County reported one death, a male in his 80s.
Overall, 319 new cases of COVID-19 were announced Friday across the tri-county.
164 of those were in Peoria, 124 in Tazewell and 31 new cases came up in Woodford.
On a good note, there were 22 fewer people in area hospitals with the virus Friday compared to the day prior.
One additional person is in the ICU for COVID-19, but there was a 23 patient decrease for COVID-19 in non-ICU beds.
Region 2 continues to meet all guidelines set by the Illinois Department of Public Health to return to Tier 2 mitigations.
