SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The state of Illinois has officially clocked more than one million COVID-19 cases.
The mark was broken Thursday, as the state Department of Public Health reported 8,757 additional cases since Wednesday.
177 new deaths were also reported.
105,518 specimens were taken between Wednesday and Thursday by labs throughout the state.
3,921 hospital beds were being occupied as of Wednesday night by people with the virus or with suspected cases of it. 783 patients were in intensive care, and 450 were being helped to breathe by ventilators.
