PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria County in the reporting period between Monday and Tuesday experienced three deaths related to COVID-19. All three were related to long-term care facilities.
Two females in their 80s lost their lives to virus complications. One lived at Sharon Elms, while the other lived at Manor Court.
A male in his 70s who lived at Sharon Willows also passed away.
In total, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties reported 272 new positive tests.
Tazewell accounted for 148 of those tests. Peoria reported 99, and Woodford had 25.
108 hospital beds were being occupied as of Tuesday afternoon by virus patients. 29 of them were in intensive care.
Region Two continued to meet all necessary numbers to be considered for graduation to tier two mitigation from tier three, albeit with a caveat.
Rolling seven-day positivity rate continued to be well under the 12% threshold, the rolling seven-day average of COVID patients in hospitals reached 10 consecutive days of decreases, and med/surg bed availability was significantly above the 20% threshold.
However, ICU bed availability hit its second consecutive day under the 20% availability mark, sitting at 19.9%. Should that number on Wednesday be under the 20% mark, that metric would go from green to red, and would have to go back above the 20% mark for three straight days in order to be back in the green.
