PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — A Wednesday night house fire in Peoria Heights has left one person dead.
Crews responded just after 11:30 to 3725 N. Illinois.
Peoria Heights Police were first on scene, and reported thick, black smoke emanating from the home. Officers were therefore unable to make a full entry into the home.
Heights fire crews were joined by companies from Peoria, West Peoria, Chillicothe, and Limestone. They were able to coordinate an effort to extinguish the fire in about 20 minutes.
A search of the home turned up one occupant, reported to be a woman in her 40s, and later identified as 45-year-old Jennifer A. Warwick.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood pronounced her dead at the scene.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
