PEORIA, Ill. — A day after no deaths were reported from COVID in the tri-county, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford between Tuesday and Wednesday combined for 15 such deaths.
In Woodford County, a woman in her 80s and another in her 90s who lived at Snyder Village both succumbed to the virus.
Two women in their 60s from Peoria County passed away. One of them had comorbidities.
A pair of Peoria County men in their 80s also died from virus complications, including a Lutheran Hillside Village resident.
Tazewell County had the highest amount, with nine COVID deaths. Two male residents of Pekin Manor in their 90s passed away, while two females in their 70s who lived at Lakeside Rehab also passed.
Additionally, deaths were reported of two other males and two other females in their 80s, as well as a man in his 90s. None of these five deceased people lived in long-term care.
The tri-county positive case count for the 24-hour period was 268. Tazewell had 132, Peoria accounted for 88, and Woodford reported 48.
The area’s hospitalization count remained at 133, the same as Tuesday’s number. 30 of those 133 were in intensive care.
Region Two remained in the green in all four metrics key to its advancement to tier two mitigation: rolling seven-day positivity rate, hospital bed availability for both med/surg and ICU, and the rolling seven-day average of COVID-19 patients in the hospital.
