SPRING BAY, Ill. — 2021 will be kicking off with a bang at Sankoty Lakes Resort and Retreat in Spring Bay on New Year’s Eve night.
A free fireworks show will be hosted at the resort beginning at 7 p.m.
“We’ll have some big boomers,” said President and CEO of KDB Group Greg Birkland. “We’ll definitely be rocking the valley.”
He added that there is plenty of parking space for people to stay in their vehicles during the show or even a large space if people would like to spread out outside of their cars.
Birkland said the KDB Group, the business created to handle Kim Blickenstaff’s central Illinois operations, wanted to “start the year off right,” and there was no better way to do that than with a firework show.
“We’re just ready for 2020 to be over, to get the drumbeat of bad news behind us once and for all, and to welcome in 2021 with a lot of roar and a little fun,” said Blickenstaff.
Central States Fireworks, out of the Springfield area, is running the show.
The firework show will serve as part of the grand opening for Sankoty Lakes, which is slated to open in January 2021.
“We’re hoping to start taking reservations in late January,” said Birkland.
The property has transformed over the last year “from gravel pit to camping, fishing and recreational paradise.”
