PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighter/Paramedics responded to a house fire Tuesday afternoon just after 1:00 p.m. in the 1600 block of N. Linn St. that has been determined to have been caused by a space heater.
When crews arrived, they found fire coming from the front window of a three-story home that had been split into four apartments.
There was smoke damage in three of the apartments and fire damage in the other, said Battalion Chief Stephany Baxter. Overall, there was an estimated $65,000 in damage done to the structure.
No residents were found inside the structure after crews searched the building. However, a civilian was taken to a local hospital for burns.
According to Baxter, their condition is unknown at this time.
The Red Cross was called to assist with housing arrangements as the building was uninhabitable at the time.
No injuries were reported to any of the 24 firefighters at the scene.
