EAST PEORIA, Ill. — The East Peoria Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and law enforcement throughout the state for a high-visiblity enforcement campaign to crack down on impaired driving.
The campaign began on Dec. 18 and will last until Jan. 4, with motorists seeing an increase in patrols and traffic stops. Drivers also noticed messaging on signs above interstates with the dangers of driving impaired.
“During this season of caring, let’s remember to extend our goodwill to fellow motorists,” said Chief Brodrick. “The best way we can do that is by making a commitment to drive sober and thereby help ensure that we all make it to our destinations safely.”
The East Peoria Police Department recommends planning a sober ride home, using ride services such as Uber or Lyft, take the keys away from people trying to drive while impaired and always buckling up.
