CANTON, Ill. — The victim of a Canton fire that occurred early Sunday morning in the 700 block of E. Chestnut St. has been identified as 9-year-old Adeline Walton.
According to Fulton County Coroner Steve Hines, Walton of carbon monoxide intoxication due to the inhalation of smoke and soot due to house fire.
Hines said there is not evidence of other trauma involved in her death.
A Canton firefighter was reportedly injured when removing the victim from the home, sustaining moderate injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
