CANTON, Ill. — The Canton Fire Department responded to a structure fire around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of E. Chestnut Street.
Crews found one person inside the home, who was transported to a local hospital.
The Fulton County Corner’s office later confirmed the victim died, but was unable to provide further information.
A Canton firefighter was reportedly injured when removing the victim from the home, sustaining moderate injuries.
More information is expected to be released by the Coroner’s office Monday afternoon.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
