SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Ventilator use by COVID-19 patients throughout Illinois as of Wednesday night decreased while intensive care unit bed occupancy increased.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said of the 4,751 overall COVID patients in hospital beds, 1,056 were in ICUs, while 575 were using ventilators to breathe.
8,828 new positive cases were reported to go along with 181 additional deaths.
Labs throughout the state took 92,015 specimens to test for the virus, as the state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate went down to 8.4%.
