SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The number of COVID-19 tests given throughout Illinois has surpassed 12 million.
With the 93,278 specimens collected between Tuesday and Wednesday by labs across the state, the state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate decreased minimally, to 8.5%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,123 new cases and 146 new deaths.
4,793 people as of Tuesday night were in hospital beds with the virus. Of those, 1045 were intensive care-level, with 590 on ventilators.
