PEORIA, Ill. — A combined nine residents of Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell Counties passed away between Tuesday and Wednesday from COVID-19 complications.
In Peoria County, a man in his 50s, two men in their 70s, and a male and female in their 80s all succumbed to the virus.
Tazewell County had the only long-term care facility-related death, a woman in her 80s who resided at Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin.
Woodford County experienced the death of a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and a male in his 90s.
A combined 334 residents, meanwhile, tested positive: 165 in Peoria, 137 in Tazewell, and 32 in Woodford.
237 area hospital beds were being occupied as of Wednesday afternoon by people with the virus, or suspected cases, marking an increase of 58 beds in use. 50 of those beds were in intensive care units.
Even still, Region Two’s ICU bed capacity increased to 20.4%, while its med/surg capacity increased to 24.5%.
A region must be at three consecutive days of 20% capacity in each in order for the Illinois Department of Public Health to consider moving that region to tier two mitigation level. Region Two’s med/surg capacity has been above 20% for 11 consecutive days.
The amount of patients in regional hospitals has decreased five of the last 10 days. The IDPH threshold is seven days of decrease.
The region’s rolling seven-day positivity rate hit an even 10%, keeping it well below the 12% line, another metric key to improving a region’s mitigation level.
