PEORIA, Ill. — 17 Peoria firefighter/paramedics responded to the 800 block of W. MacQueen Ave. just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on reports of a residential structure fire.
When they arrived, firefighters found fire on the front of the structure. One person performing maintenance left the home prior to fire crews arrival.
Thanks to a quick extinguishment of the fire, within three minutes, the fire did not spread beyond the porch of the home.
“With quick reporting and rapid response, we were able to get there and keep it from getting inside the structure,” said Acting Battalion Chief Scott Strum.
According Strum, the home was under renovation.
“They had a generator on the front porch due to electricity not being operational in the house,” said Strum. “The cause was from the generator.”
The fire was determined to be unintentional by a Peoria Fire Investigator.
No injuries were reported at the fire.
