MORTON, Ill. — Morton School District’s COVID-19 numbers from the week of Dec. 11 to the week of Dec. 18 remained relatively consistent, but student quarantines decreased dramatically because of the CDC’s new quarantine guidelines.
The CDC now requires a 10-day healthy quarantine, a four day decrease from its previous 14-day requirement.
The person in quarantine cannot exhibit any symptoms during this period, otherwise they will have to isolate for a full 14 days.
Student quarantines decreased by 65 this past week, down from 212 to 147.
On Friday, Dec. 11, 20 students were absent due to COVID-19, a 3 person increase from the previous week. 13 employees were out because of coronavirus, a two person increase from the previous week.
Morton School District is allowing employees to test out of quarantine with a negative test after seven days of isolation.
