PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Tuesday reported four new deaths due to COVID-19 in the tri-county area.
Two of the deaths occurred in Peoria County. One was a female in her 90s who resided at University Rehab, while the other was a male in his 70s with comorbidities.
The other two deaths occurred in Tazewell County. One was a male in his 60s, while the other was a female in her 60s who resided at Fondulac Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in East Peoria.
Overall, the tri-county reported 309 new cases Tuesday. 154 new cases were reported in Peoria County, 129 in Tazewell, and 26 in Woodford.
For second straight day, the hospitalized rate in the area remained constant and stayed at .47%.
Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate remained where it was Monday, which was 13.6%.
The recovered rate is up nearly a whole percentage point to 65.79%.
The home isolating rate dropped by .8% to 32.28%.
More hospital beds in the area were available Tuesday compared to Monday. After a surge over the weekend, there are 7 fewer people in area hospitals Tuesday.
Overall, 169 patients are in area hospital beds with the virus or suspected cases of it.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 20,565 cases and 291 deaths in the tri-county area.
