PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday announced 10 area deaths due to COVID-19 over the weekend.
Seven of the deaths were in Tazewell County, and two were residents of long-term care facilities.
One of the people who died was a resident of Villas of Hollybrook Morton, while the other that lived in long-term care resided at Fondulac Rehab in East Peoria. Both facilities are currently experiencing outbreaks.
The other five deaths in Tazewell were not residents of long-term care.
The other three deaths that occurred in the tri-county area were in Peoria County, and none of them resided at a long-term care facility.
The tri-county area of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties has now experienced 287 deaths since the pandemic began.
The health department also announced 825 new positive COVID cases over the weekend.
383 of those new cases were in Peoria County, 322 were in Tazewell and Woodford added 120 cases.
In addition, 14 more hospital beds were in use Monday compared to Friday.
At the time of reporting, 176 people were in area hospitals with the virus or suspected cases. Last Friday, that number was 162.
The recovered rate dropped slightly over the weekend and now sits at 64.87%.
The home isolating rate went up to 33.08%, while the hospitalized rate didn’t change and remained at .47%.
