PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday announced 14 deaths that occurred over the Thanksgiving weekend due to COVID-19.
Eight deaths were Peoria County residents, five deaths were residents of Tazewell County and one death was a resident of Woodford County.
Four of the eight deaths of Peoria residents were females who were residents of Bickford of Peoria.
The other deaths to Peoria County residents were a female in her 90s; a male in his 50s with comorbities; a male in his 60s; and a female in her 50s that was a resident of Sharon Pines.
The deaths in Tazewell County were a female in her 70s who was a resident of Timber Creek in Pekin; two females in their 80s; a female in her 80s who was a resident of Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin, currently experiencing an outbreak; and a male in his 80s.
The death reported in Woodford County was a female in her 70s who was a resident of Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.
Overall, 1,515 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the tri-county. Peoria County had the most new cases with 737.
Tazewell County reported the second most with 620. Woodford reported a total of 158 new cases.
Since last Wednesday, the recovered rate in the tri-county has dropped 1.45% and is down to 65.66%.
The home isolating rate has increased 1.44% and is now at 32.35%.
The hospitalized rate is up slightly, .02%, and is now at .48%.
At the time of reporting, 248 people are in area hospitals with the virus or suspected cases of it. Of those, 56 are in the ICU.
In a bit of good news, Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate fell each day over the Thanksgiving holiday. The number as of Monday was at 13.1%, down from 14.4% on Wednesday, the last day local COVID numbers were reported.
