CHILLICOTHE, Ill. — Peoria firefighters responded to a mutual aid call from the Chillicothe Fire Department at approximately 11:56 p.m. Wednesday for a Hazmat spill.
Crews, in Level A Hazmat suits, found several gallon jugs that had fallen from a shelf and broke.
The residence was filled with noxious gas.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Ralph Phillips said firefighters neutralized the spill with dri-rite.
The product was placed in a overpack drum.
A hazardous waste hauler was called in to clean up the remaining product.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
