PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police Tuesday night said they had arrested a suspect in a fatal weekend shooting outside the Landmark Apartments on N. Shipman.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said 28-year-old Roosevelt Hunter III suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Hunter was found unresponsive on the sidewalk outside the apartment complex Sunday night.
According to police, the department’s special investigations division conducted surveillance in the area of the 2200 block of W. Millman when they saw a man put two guns in a vehicle.
“The male, identified as Ontario Alexander, 29 years of age, was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interview purposes,” Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said.
Alexander was subsequently arrested for First Degree Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
“He also is facing charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance,” Dotson said.
Alexander is currently being held in the Peoria County Jail.
