SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois’ driver services facilities will close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 17 through December 7, according to Secretary of State Jesse White.
In a written statement on Friday, White said, “The health and safety of employees and the public remains paramount and face-to-face transactions potentially increase the further spread of the virus.”
Expiring driver’s licenses and Illinois state I-D cards will not need to be renewed until June 1, 2021, according to Secretary of State Spokesperson Henry Haupt.
“There are things you can do like renew your registration online at cyberdriveillinois.com,” Haupt added.
Peoria’s commercial driver’s license facility on N. Sterling Avenue will remain open by appointment only for written and road exams.
