PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria-Tazewell-Woodford tri-county experienced 394 new COVID-19 cases between Thursday and Friday, according to the Peoria City/County Health Department.
Tazewell accounted for the highest amount, with 256. Peoria had 111, with Woodford accounting for the remaining 27.
A Tazewell County man in his 80s passed away from virus complications. He did not live in a long-term care facility.
Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate was up to 15.6%. Friday marked the 15th consecutive day of a rolling seven-day positivity rate of over 8%.
When a region is at or above 8% for 14 days, the Illinois Department of Public Health can recommend further mitigation measures. IDPH had not commented as of Friday afternoon as to whether or not it would recommend such measures.
The tri-county’s hospitalization count dropped slightly, from 162 Thursday to 159 Friday.
The area’s recovery rate ticked downward slightly, to 72.87%.
