SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Friday he was extending the eviction moratorium in the state of Illinois for another 30 days.
This time, however, he said there would be more protections in place for landlords and property owners.
“This new moratorium will ensure that the rents are paid by tenants who may have been taking advantage of the eviction moratorium who but are, in fact, able to make their monthly rent payments,” said Pritzker.
Only renters who earn less than $99,000, or joint filers that make under $198,000, are covered under the new extension, according to Pritzker.
Renters unable to pay their rents will have to submit a declaration form, which will be able to be found on the state’s website.
