SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The total COVID-19 case count between Saturday and Sunday for the state of Illinois was not as high as the one from 24 hours prior, snapping a string of days during which time the 24-hour case counts kept being topped.
10,009 people during the reporting period received positive test results. Illinois Department of Public Health reported 42 new deaths.
90,757 Illinoisans between Saturday and Sunday were tested for the virus.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate was 10.6%.
4,303 people as of Saturday night were in hospitals throughout the state because they were infected with the virus or were thought to be infected with it. 833 of them were in intensive care, and 368 needed the use of ventilators.
While the Peoria City/County Health Department does not provide updates during weekends, the IDPH keeps a running total of each region’s rolling seven-day positivity rate.
Region Two’s rate on Sunday had risen all the way to 12.5%. This is nearly double what it needs to be in order for mitigation measures to be lifted, which is 6.5%.
