PEORIA, Ill. — A few years back, Caterpillar launched a series of videos featuring a gigantic Jenga game, an outrageous setup of Dominoes, construction of the world’s tallest sand castle, and a pair of golf pros trying to hit a hole-in-one on a moving green.
CAT has a new video, the first in four years, continuing the series in celebration of the company’s 95th anniversary.
The giant maze for “The Cat Trial #9: PAC-MAN” was constructed at the Edwards Demonstration & Learning Center in Brimfield.
Victoria Morrissey, Caterpillar’s global marketing and brand director, told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, the game came to life using the latest CAT equipment and remote technology.
“Literally, over 100 people within the walls of Caterpillar had a hands in this. And, everything was conducted over teams calls, using GPS technology,” Morrissey said.
Planning for the giant “PAC-MAN” game began in March, around the start of the global pandemic.
“All the design work was done with the right architect, then it’s loaded into the excavator. And, our operators out there following GPS,” Morrissey said.
The “PAC-MAN” gameboard was 19,040% larger than the original scale of the maze on the classic arcade screen.
“When we placed the gameboard on top of the original, except for the rounded edges, it was a perfect match,” Morrissey said.
In total, it took 70 labor hours to construct the “PAC-MAN” maze.
