PEORIA, Ill. — Long-term care facilities in Peoria and Tazewell Counties over the weekend grieved six deaths related to COVID-19.
In Tazewell, a woman in her 80s who lived at Timber Creek Rehab succumbed to complications related to the virus. Timber Creek over the last seven days has had four COVID-related deaths.
Meanwhile, five Peoria County residents died.
Three women in their 80s who lived at Heritage Health in Chillicothe died. This facility has experienced five deaths in four days, as a man in his 80s from the facility also died over the weekend.
A male Christian Buehler resident in his 90s also died from the virus.
When also adding Woodford County’s death toll, the tri-county’s total went up to 115. Peoria has experienced 58 deaths, while Tazewell has seen 46, and Woodford accounted for the other 11.
The weekend also saw 207 newly active cases crop up throughout the tri-county, with 107 for Peoria, 89 for Tazewell, and 11 in Woodford.
68 virus patients as of Monday afternoon were in area hospitals. 24 of them were in intensive care.
The area’s recovery rate went down almost a full percentage point, to 82.8%.
