PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria City Council member Zachary Oyler appeared in Peoria County court Friday, where he had charges of domestic battery and interfering with reporting of a domestic battery dropped.
In the deal, Oyler was instead charged with disorderly conduct.
The Alford plea means Oyler maintains he is innocent but acknowledges the prosecution has enough evidence against him for conviction.
Oyler was arrested in July 2019 when his wife, Heather, claimed he assaulted her.
Heather Oyler said in a statement that her husband is not guilty of the two charges that were dropped against him.
